The new Hyundai Kona has already impressed with its striking appearance, but we still had to guess at prices and specifications. Today we have them for you, at least for the most part.

Just like the previous one, the new Hyundai Kona comes in three flavors: a mild hybrid, a full hybrid and a fully electric variant. As a result, it also deviates somewhat from the most comparable Kia as usual. After all, that Kia Niro is at least a full-fledged hybrid, after which the road to the EV runs via a plug-in hybrid.

The new Hyundai Kona is available from €29,995. That is only 200 euros more than before. For this amount you get, just like with the previous model, a Kona with a 120 hp 1.0 T-GDI petrol engine and 48V mild hybrid support. The Hyundai Kona Hybrid also seems to remain largely the same under the skin. We note again a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 105 hp, which, together with a 43.5 hp electric motor, gives a total output of 141 hp. Switching is done with a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission. The Kona Hybrid is available from €33,995. The difference with the previous version (€32,295) is therefore slightly larger than with the mild hybrid, but still reasonable. The new Hyundai Kona is in all cases 15 centimeters longer than its predecessor, a significant difference. The car grew 2.5 centimeters in width and has a 6 centimeters longer wheelbase, which should all be good news for the space on board.

Equipment

The basic version of the new Hyundai Kona is called i-Motion. This version is only available in combination with the mild hybrid base motorization and includes a reversing camera, cruise control, a center armrest, lane assistance and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation. One step higher we find the Comfort, which is the entry-level model for the Hybrid. The Kona Comfort has, among other things, automatic climate control with 2 zones, a height-adjustable passenger seat, a leather-covered steering wheel (not standard) and, in the case of the Hybrid, also 16-inch light metal.

One step higher on the ladder we find the Comfort Smart. With 18-inch light metal, an extensive parking assistant, a fully digital instrument panel, an electric tailgate and seat and steering wheel heating, life with this version slowly becomes seriously comfortable. At the top of the range, there is a choice between Premium, Premium Sky and N Line. The Premium has leather, Bose audio and seat heating in the rear, among other things, the Premium Sky adds a sliding roof. The N Line is sporty and judging by the press photos, it clearly distinguishes itself from the other versions. Apart from that finery, the N Line has the same Bose audio, special upholstery with red stitching and seat ventilation.

The extensive price list can be released at any time and will undoubtedly contain additional information, for example about luggage compartments and the prices of the more expensive versions. In that case, this article will of course be supplemented. We do not expect prices of the fully electric Kona Electric today, because Hyundai has already indicated that they will follow at a later stage.
