Kia has been working on a new generation of the Sportage for quite a while. The new Kia Sportage is now appearing again for the first time in more than six months, but unfortunately for us, the camouflage department of the brand has worked no less meticulously.
The Kia Sportage is already seven years old this year and the SUV would not give that immediately. Partly thanks to a facelift, three years ago, the success of Kia still looks quite fresh. However, the clock is not standing still, certainly not on a technical level, so the South Koreans are preparing the next Sportage. As we now know from the Sportage, a considerable transformation also takes place during this generation change.
Despite the thick layer of patches, it is easy to see that the Sportage has quite a different appearance at the front. The lighting is a lot lower and it seems that the daytime running lights a floor above will demand its own part of the nose. We showed that before on illustrations of the new Sportage. At the rear, something from the previous Sportage will be recognizable more quickly, although the lighting is a bit deeper into the body.
The next Sportage shares its basis with the already available new Hyundai Tucson, so count on comparable technology. That probably means that the engine list starts with a 150 hp 1.6 T-GDI with mild hybrid technology. Higher is a hybrid with an output of 230 hp, with the 265 hp plug-in hybrid above it as the topper. Although the Sportage is still well camouflaged and we secretly already almost expected the unveiling, we are still committed to the unveiling not being delayed for very long. Probably this summer.
