For the mere monthly fee of 2.99 euros you have unlimited access to Amazon Prime Video. The American company publishes new titles on its own streaming service every month. Which fresh films, series and documentaries can you expect in January? This is what’s new on Amazon Prime Video.

The Tender Bar

With director George Clooney behind the controls and Ben Affleck in front of the lens, expectations are high. Beginning January 7, The Tender Bar will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The film is about the true life of JR Moehringer, who grew up in New York without a father. Fortunately, his uncle turns out to be an alternative father figure as a bar owner.

Various prominent regulars play an important role in this. For example, JR drinks a beer for the first time in the pub and watches sports matches. In the film, a young boy grows into a grown man who chases his dream fanatically. He wants to make it as a writer. The film is based on JR Moehringer’s bestseller.

As We See it

As We See it is a new series that revolves around three roommates with autism. Their supervisor allows them to continue living in the apartment, provided they set a number of goals. One condition, for example, is that they find and keep paid work. It is also a condition that they surround themselves with friends. Easier said than done, because because of their autism they lack social skills and empathy at important moments.

In addition, they are often too honest. This constantly leads to uncomfortable situations, with the protagonists not shying away from making vicious remarks all the time. The series humorously exposes the inner struggles of people with autism. As We See it will be on view from January 21.

A Hero

One day, Rahim unexpectedly ends up in jail because he cannot repay a debt on time. Once on leave, he does everything he can to make things right. Rahim tries to convince his creditor to waive part of the amount owed. Unfortunately that doesn’t work.

Once the main character gets his hands on a bag of gold coins, he faces a diabolical dilemma. Does the Iranian return the coins to the rightful owner or use it to pay off his debt? The story takes an unexpected turn, after which Rahim’s life is turned upside down. A Hero can be seen from January 21.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

The fourth part of the popular animation series Hotel Transylvania can be seen on Amazon Prime Video on January 22. In Transformania, Dracula holds sway over the hotel, although he plans to retire soon. His daughter Mavis is supposed to take over the hotel, but Dracula fears son-in-law Johny will ruin the carefully built business for good.

The latter doesn’t leave it at that and transforms himself into a monster. Remarkably enough, the other hotel guests go through life as normal people. Who will take power within the colorful hotel?

The Legend of Vox Machina

A promising animated series is planned for January 28. The Legend of Vox Machina has twelve episodes and is aimed at adults. The main characters make it pretty. They are bored, drink a lot and regularly end up in a fight. They try to pay off their drink bill, but unexpectedly end up in the kingdom of Exandria.

The main characters have to deal with rather strange dark forces, which puts the relationships within the close group of friends to the test. Meanwhile, they try to save Exandria from destruction. What is special is that The Legend of Vox Machina started in 2019 as a Kickstarter project.
