Calendar app on iPhone and iPad: no public holidays 2022

The new year has only just begun and the first problems are already coming to light. Many iPhone and iPad users have noticed that no public holidays are shown for 2022 in the Calendar app’s calendar.

During a check, the problem appears to occur on both iPhone and iPad. It doesn’t matter which version of iOS is installed. When checking Christmas Day and Boxing Day in the calendar, both days are no longer indicated as public holidays.

Add holidays of 2022 to the calendar app

Fortunately, the problem is now known to Apple and there is already a solution. To get the holidays back in the calendar, perform the following steps on your iPhone. Open the “Calendar” app and tap “Calendars” at the bottom. Swipe down the open page with your finger until you see the loading icon at the top of the screen. Release the window and the 2022 holidays should now appear in the Calendar app’s calendar again.

On the iPad, the actions to get the holidays back in the Calendar app are slightly different. Open the Calendar app and tap the “Calendars” icon at the top left. Swipe down the open window on the left side of your iPad until the charging icon appears. Then release your finger.

Just to be sure, check whether there is a check mark next to the ‘Dutch holidays’ option. Did you actually like not seeing the holidays in your calendar? By unchecking this you remove the holidays of 2022 (and earlier) from the Calendar app.
