No Geneva Motor Show in 2022, after all

The Geneva Motor Show or Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) will not take place in February 2022 anyway. Instead, the organization is now focusing on 2023.

This brings the number of canceled editions of the world-famous car fair in Switzerland to at least three, because already in 2020 the organization of the event was forced to cancel everything at the last minute. The fair did not take place in 2021 either, of course still because of the corona pandemic.

Covid-19 is again the reason to postpone. The organization itself summarizes it as ‘problems associated with the Covid-19 pandemic’, which refers not only to the pandemic itself, but also to the associated chip shortage. “We have tried everything to make the Geneva International Motor Show in 2022 possible, but despite that commitment we have to face the facts,” said organizing committee chairman Maurice Turrettini. “However, we don’t see it as an adjustment, but as a postponement. In 2023, the show will come back stronger than ever.”

2023 will then be a busy year for the organization, because it is also involved in a similar event in Qatar.
