Apple has not released a new tablet this year for the first time since the introduction of the iPad. Which iPads can we expect in 2024?
No new iPads in 2023
The last new iPad was released in October 2022. Apple then released the tenth generation iPad and a new iPad Pro. However, in 2023 we will still have to do without new iPads. That is striking, because Apple has released a new iPad every year since the introduction of the iPad in 2010. This will change in 2023, because we will have to do without new iPads this year.

Expectations are therefore high for 2024. It is quite possible that Apple will update all iPads next year, which means we will see no fewer than four (!) new iPads in 2024. We have listed the most important changes for you.
iPads get faster chips
The biggest change we will see with the iPads in 2024 are the new chips. Both the 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro will probably receive the new M3 chip. We saw this extremely fast processor for the first time last week in the MacBook Pro 2023 and it will also come to the iPad next year. It is expected that this advanced chip will only come to the Pro models of the iPad.
The iPad Air will probably be equipped with the M2 chip in 2024. We currently see this processor in the Mac mini and the iPad Pro 2022. The regular iPad and the iPad mini are expected to switch to the A16 Bionic chip. The current iPad Air still runs on the A14 Bionic chip, in the iPad mini 2021 we find the A15 Bionic chip. This will make all iPads a lot faster next year.
Design remains the same on the iPad 2024
The design of the new iPads will probably remain the same in 2024. We can therefore mainly expect improved hardware in the tablets next year, other than that there will be no major changes. The iPad Pro 2024 will probably have a new type of display, namely an OLED screen. With this screen technology, the image is much brighter, the contrast is better and the colors look better.

So we will have to wait a while for new iPads, because the first models will not arrive until March 2024. The regular iPad and the iPad mini are expected then.
