Been out to dinner and someone else shot everything? Pay back the amount owed quickly and easily via a Tikkie.
Receive a little bit
Paying back money to someone using a Tikkie is very easy. It is not necessary to install the Tikkie app yourself. This is only necessary if you want to request a refund from someone else. Paying back via a payment request goes like this:
- Have someone send a payment request (Tikkie) by SMS, WhatsApp, email, Messenger or using a QR code.
- A message will appear on your phone from the Tikkie sender.
In which app the message appears depends on the option chosen by the sender. The message contains details of the sender, the amount to be transferred, the reason for payment (eg ‘Dinner’), a link to pay and a date until which this link is valid. A Tikkie request is valid for 14 days. After that, the payment request no longer works.
Pay a little
Always check before payment whether it is a genuine payment request and not a scam. For example, Tikkie always uses a link that looks like this: ‘https://tikkie.me/pay/[code]’. Read more about the reliability of a payment request in the tip ‘How do you see whether a Tikkie payment request is safe?’ Of course we don’t want criminals to get their hands on private data.
- Safe? Tap the link and Tikkie will open in the browser or (if installed) in the app.
- Check the description and the amount again.
- Would you like to thank the sender for the fun or send a different message? Click on the plus sign and type your message.
- Optionally tap My couch and choose a sofa.
- Tap on Pay now.
- Follow the steps in the picture. The steps to take depend on the chosen banking app.
- You return to the Tikkie app or website for payment confirmation.
