The project PAPURE The Fraunhofer Institute’s goal is to seal paper packaging without the use of any foreign substances such as adhesives. This should help to fundamentally improve the recyclability of paper packaging. When sealing, classic processes still rely on foreign materials such as plastics, coatings or adhesives – a disadvantage for production and recycling. PAPURE relies on the material being modified through laser pretreatment so that it can then be securely connected directly using a heat sealing process.
