The plug-in hybrid types of the Audi Q8 get a power cure. The extra horsepower with which the plug-ins are injected come – how could it be otherwise – from the German tuner Abt.
Audi supplies two plug-in hybrid versions of the Q8, of which the 60 TFSI e is the strongest. Both the 462 hp Q8 60 TFSI e and the milder 381 hp Q8 55 TFSI e are pumped up by the German tuner Abt to successively 490 and no less than 530 hp.
The powertrain of the Q8 60 TFSI e normally consists of a 340 hp and 450 Nm strong 3.0 TFSI V6, a petrol engine of which Abt can boost the power to 408 hp and 500 Nm thanks to a rewritten engine management system. The stated specifications can be found in the Car Users Manuals of the manufacturer. Although that six-cylinder gets 68 hp, Abt does not touch the electric motor. The same 68 hp power upgrade is available for the six-cylinder in the Q8 55 TFSI e. In the Q8 55 TFSI e, that petrol engine is in principle good for 340 hp. The difference between the two plug-ins is purely in the power of the electric motor.
Abt would not be Abt if the Q8 would not also be full of external extras. The Q8’s TFSI e are available with 23-inch light metal and optionally equipped with extra spoilers, lips and edges.
