During the first mass of Pope Leo XIV, a striking detail noticed. The first American pope wore a smartwatch among his traditional robes. Attentive spectators noticed a glimpse of what looked like an Apple Watch. And this led to a stream of speculation and discussions on social media and various websites.

Wearing an Apple Watch is actually pretty smart. Because various functions, such as heart rate monitoring, fall detection and emergency reports are extremely useful, especially for someone of 69 years.

However, nobody could really see which Apple Watch is wearing the pope. Probably it is a regular Apple Watch, but it could also be an Apple Watch SE. That means that the pope also has an iPhone. Incidentally, it is also not known which iPhone he owns.

It is not the first time that Leo XIV wore an Apple Watch. Before he became pope, he was already in the photo with Apple’s smartwatch on his wrist. On that photo the then smartwatch is a bit better to see. It was certainly not an Apple Watch Ultra, because it has a slightly different form.
