‘Different approach’
The Porsche Taycan and Porsche Panamera can now coexist perfectly, because one is electric and the other is not. But what if the Panamera becomes electric? Even then, according to Porsche, there is no problem.
Sooner or later the Porsche Panamera will have to die and there will logically be an electric sequel. But is that even possible next to the Porsche Taycan? Yes certainly. At least, in conversation with Coach Kevin Giek, chiefly responsible for the Taycan, hints that an electric Panamera could be added next to the Taycan. He is not afraid of cannibalism within the Porsche range, even though the brand does have two EVs that are broadly similar. “We think the Panamera segment is more about space and luxury. Completely different from the Taycan, which is more about sportiness. They both have their own position in the market, both make sense and we are sure there are customers for them.” both are.”
For the time being, it will take a while before an electric Panamera comes. There is also just a brand new Porsche Panamera on the market. Once it does, it will likely be Porsche’s electric flagship on a platform not currently in use in the Volkswagen Group. We already know that an electric Cayenne is in the pipeline and that Porsche will be working with Volkswagen’s new modular SSP platform. There is a good chance that an electric Panamera will also be based on a derivative of that base.
