Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo vs. Cross Turismo: what’s the difference anyway?

The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo is currently only available as a 598 hp GTS, but that will change from mid-March. Then the electric station wagon can also be ordered in four other power variants: as Taycan, 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. But what are the differences between the Taycan Sport Turismo and the Taycan Cross Turismo launched in 2021?

Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo vs. Cross Turismo: what’s the difference anyway?

Of course, the marketing department of Porsche does everything it can to present the two as very different: the Taycan Sport Turismo is the sporty station wagon and the Taycan Cross Turismo the rugged off-roader. But under the skin they are almost the same. The biggest difference: the Cross Turismo is only available with 4WD, the Sport Turismo also with rear-wheel drive. Furthermore, the latter is not decorated with ‘rough’ exterior details – such as plastic edges around the wheel arches and at the bottom of the body – and it has air suspension that can be adjusted less high. For comparison: see the Cross Turismo below.

Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo with up to 500 kilometers range

During the press release of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, we could only drive the GTS. Four other versions will also be available to order from mid-March: the Taycan (408 hp), 4S (490 hp), Turbo (680 hp) and Turbo S (761 hp). Actually there are six, because you can also get the Taycan and 4S with Performance Battery Plus, which significantly increases the power. To up to 476 hp in the Taycan – which is the only rear-wheel drive – and 571 hp in the 4S. If you want the variant with the best range, you should have the 4S, which can go just under 500 kilometers on a full battery.

Everyone Porsche Taycan is the undisputed champion of fast charging

Every Taycan is equipped with a super-fast charging system, with which the electric Porsche trumps the competition. With the right fast charger, the model achieves a charging speed of 270 kW. More than enough to charge the battery to 80 percent in 22 minutes. 100 kilometers of range is charged every 5 minutes. Very nice if you don’t want to stop too long at Fastned on the highway. Just as nice as the better headroom compared to the regular Taycan (plus 4.5 cm), the larger luggage space (446 – 1212 liters) and the cool Sunshine Control roof, which can be blinded in parts.
