Practical consumption Dacia Lodgy: that’s how economical Dacia’s great family friend is

A lot for little, that is Dacia in its entirety. Perhaps the car that best expressed this philosophy was the Lodgy, which in no way pretended to be anything other than what it was. A big space beast for people who don’t care about appearance. Because of its size, the Lodgy does not look very economical and the coach does not look very wind tunnel friendly either. Do you pay the price with consumption?

The Lodgy is available with seven seats and most of the cars we cover here actually have a third row of seats. Really a family friend, for which there are few serious alternatives. Dacia develops steadily when a model has been on the market for a while. For example, the 1.2-liter TCe petrol engine was replaced in 2019 by the new 1.3 TCe, which you will also find in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, among other things. After that year, the Lodgy had to do without the trusted 1.5 DCi diesel engine: in our country the auto-igniter disappeared from the range.

Consumption Dacia Lodgy TCe

The most economical petrol Lodgy is equipped with the more modern 1.3 TCe. His owner kept track of consumption for a year and just over 8,000 kilometers, which resulted in 1 in 15.5 (6.4 l / 100 km). He is closely followed by a 1.2 TCe driver, who managed to cover 15,000 kilometers with a consumption of 1 to 15.5 (6.6 l/100 km). On average, owners of a Dacia Lodgy with a petrol engine get 1 to 14.1 (7.1 l/100 km).

The least economical petrol Lodgy, a 1.2 TCe, drove 71,107 kilometers in five years with an average consumption of 1 to 11.6. Unfortunately, the story of this seven-seater ended at the latter mileage. “Engine broken, piston ring broken. Replaced by a Renault Grand Scénic 4,” the owner comments.

Consumption Dacia Lodgy diesel

The large representation of diesel Lodgys in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor is striking. This mix of 90 and 110 hp 1.5 DCi’s represents an average consumption of 1 to 18 (5.6 l / 100 km). The most economical Lodgy DCi scores an average of 1 in 20.6 (4.85 l/100 km), but the owner kept a relatively short record of consumption. The other rider who scores more favorably than 1 in 20 does so very narrowly, with a consumption of 4.99 l/100 km. A 110 hp strong Lodgy DCi Stepway is with exactly 1 in 16 (6.2 l / 100 km) over a distance of more than 40,000 kilometers closer.

So you can say that the Dacia Lodgy does exactly what it radiates, because an average fuel consumption of 1 to 14.1 is certainly not economical. You do get a lot of space and convenience in return. Seen in that light, it makes sense to opt for a Lodgy DCi, with an average of 1 to 18, after all, the consumption of diesel is considerably more favorable.
