The already tender AMG 53 models are currently the highlights of both the GLE and GLE Coupé, but soon the heavy AMG 63 versions take over the role as an absolute highlight of that SUV family. Techzle can be the first to report the Dutch prices for those extremely potent AMG versions.
At the end of last year, Mercedes-AMG pulled the curtain on the AMG 63 and AMG 63 S versions of the new GLE, particularly powerful sporty versions that were also presented for the GLE Coupé in February this year. It was still unknown what those tire smokers will cost in the Netherlands. Until today!
Mercedes-Benz charges a starting price of € 187,484 for the GLE 63 4Matic. The more powerful GLE 63 S 4Matic changes ownership from € 199,585. The GLE Coupé also comes in two AMG flavors. The GLE 63 Coupé must yield at least € 207,510 while the GLE 63 S Coupé requires an investment of at least € 221,365.
The GLE 63 and 63 S versions take over the role of the GLE 53 as sporty top versions of the GLE family. While the now degraded GLE’s 53 4Matic + has a 435 hp and 520 Nm strong 3.0-liter six-in-line that is temporarily injected with 22 electrically generated hp thanks to EQ Boost, the AMG 63 versions are still a piece more potent. In both the AMG 63 and the AMG 63 S, a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 serves as a power station. In the AMG 63, it delivers 571 hp and 750 Nm, but thanks to the well-known EQ Boost system, under certain circumstances, 22 hp is temporarily added. Shifting continues with the AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission with nine gears. If this is not enough for you, choose the 612 hp and 850 Nm strong AMG 63 S variant that also has the EQ Boost system that temporarily sends an extra 22 hp to the wheels.
The GLE and the GLE Coupé sprint as 63 AMG in 4 seconds to a speed of 100 km / h and have a top speed of 250 km / h. With the optional Drivers Package, the speed limiter is more forgiving and the SUV thunders up to 280 km / h. The S versions take 0.2 seconds from the 0-100 sprint time and come standard with that Drivers Package.
GLE 350th Coupé
The delivery list of the GLE Coupé is also extended with an engine version that is already available for the regular GLE: the GLE 350de. This plug-in hybrid has a 193 hp and 400 Nm strong diesel engine under the hood that works together with a 136 hp powerful electric motor. Thanks to a 31.2 kWh battery pack, the GLE 350 should be able to cover 90 to 99 WLTP kilometers electrically. A decent electric range for a plug-in. The battery pack is partly under the load floor, which means that the luggage space is less spacious than in the regular variant. The starting price is set at € 98,384. Just like with the regular GLE, this plug-in is directly the cheapest GLE Coupé you can order, thanks to its relatively low CO2 emissions and thus milder bpm.
