Production-ready Cupra Formentor is located in Geneva

During the press introduction of the Cupra Leon and its circuit brothers, Cupra made an interesting announcement last night. The brand new Cupras are not the only newcomers to experience their public debut in Geneva in early March.

The Formentor Concept was, by the way, already quite a production-ready, harbinger of a new crossover that Cupra will add to its model range in the long term. The first espionage photos of the final production version appeared recently, but car land does not have to speculate about all the ins and outs of that newcomer for a long time.

The Formentor Concept is a cross-over with sporty aspirations, something that is reflected in, among other things, the strongly sloping roof line and the sporty-looking bumper work that characterizes the show car. The study model is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers 245 hp on paper. It is very likely that the final production version will also receive that powertrain. The Cupra Leon also comes with a 245 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain. A 140 hp 1.4 TSI is coupled to a 115 hp electric motor, good for a system power of 245 hp. The battery pack in that variant of the Cupra is 13 kWh in size, good for an electric range of around 60 kilometers. We dare to state with certainty that this powertrain also has a place in the final Formentor.

In addition, it is likely that the other powertrains that Cupra has ready for the Leon find their way to the Formentor. That would mean that the car will also be available with 245 hp, 300 hp and 310 hp 2.0 TSIs. All open spaces will be filled in at the Geneva Motor Show, so please be patient. We do know that the Formentor will be on the market this year.
