Production version Jeep Grand Wagoneer caught

In early September, Jeep presented the Grand Wagoneer Concept to the American consumer. From that study model comes a production version and it is the Jeep Grand Wagoneer of which a test copy has now been taken.

A month ago Jeep blew the dust of the type designation ‘Wagoneer’, which Jeep used in the past for a luxurious variant of the Cherokee, but which is best known for the Grand Wagoneer (SJ). The brand presented the Grand Wagoneer Concept, a very production-ready looking preview of a new SUV that will rise above the Grand Cherokee. Jeep has sent the production version of the Grand Wagoneer in test costume out the door. Fortunately there are pictures of that.

Good news for those who liked the appearance of the Grand Wagoneer Concept. That seems to be almost one-on-one to be transferred to the production version. The SUV retains its angular front and also the relatively flat grille and viewers, which are connected with an LED strip, survive the transition to the production stage.

The Grand Wagoneer probably shares its base with Ram’s 1500. The study model was equipped with an unspecified plug-in hybrid powertrain and so we expect that in the final Grand Wagoneer. However, you can also count on the arrival of a range of conventional six and eight cylinders. The Grand Wagoneer should make its production debut sometime in the second half of next year. Whether the Grand Wagoneer is also coming to the Netherlands? Unfortunately that is unlikely.
