The MacBook Pro M4 has yet to be officially released, but the laptop is already for sale in Russia. This is what’s going on.
MacBook Pro M4 leaked
This month, Apple announces a series of new products, including the MacBook Pro with M4 chip. Apple is rumored to be holding a special event to announce the laptop at the end of October, but it appears the MacBook has already been unveiled. A YouTube video already shows the new MacBook Pro 2024 in Russia and the video was even shared by Mark Gurman. That is striking, because Gurman is a reliable Apple analyst.
There is a good chance that it is indeed a new MacBook Pro with M4 chip in Russia. According to rumors, 200 models of the MacBook Pro M4 have been leaked before the official release. An advertisement on a Russian website now seems to confirm this, because it offers the MacBook Pro 2024. The asking price for the laptop is 720,000 rubles, which is no less than 6,750 euros. That is not surprising, because after all, it is a MacBook that has not yet been officially released.
New features of the MacBook Pro
Due to the leaked MacBook Pro 2024 in Russia, we know that the laptop will have a new processor. The device runs on the M4 chip. We previously saw this in the iPad Pro 2024 and it is approximately 25 percent faster than the M3 chip. The MacBook Pro M4 has 16 GB of RAM as standard, while the current MacBook Pro has 8 GB. As a result, the laptop has no problems running the most demanding programs at the same time, which is important with the arrival of Apple Intelligence.
The MacBook Pro M4 has a total of three Thunderbolt 4 ports, according to the leaked images in Russia. The MacBook Pro 2023 has two, just like the MacBook Air 2024. In addition, the MacBook Pro 2024 will be released in spa black, a color that is now exclusive to the MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro or M3 Max chip. The laptop is probably also available in a gray version.
Release early November
It is unclear how the MacBook Pro M4 has already appeared in Russia. Apple has stopped selling products in the country, so there’s a good chance it’s a stolen model from China. Apple has now started mass production of the new laptop, because the MacBook Pro will be presented at the end of this month. That will probably happen on Tuesday October 29.
Not much later, the MacBook Pro with M4 chip will be available in stores. The expected release is Friday, November 1, a few days after the laptop’s announcement. Then we will know for sure which functions the new generation of the MacBook Pro will have. In addition to the MacBook, Apple also presents the iPad mini 7, iMac and Mac mini 2024.
