BMW has again issued a recall for the R 1250 GS, the R 1250 R, the R 1250 RS and the R 1250 RT. This time there is a problem with the fuel distributor, which may leak. In a worst-case scenario, the engine could catch fire as a result.
BMW Motorrad had received reports from several countries of 2023 R 1250 models leaking petrol. The problem appeared to affect all models: the R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1250 R, R 1250 RS and R 1250 RT.
Investigation revealed that the cause was the fuel distributor, where the fuel pressure sensor showed a leak due to an anomaly during manufacture. That caused the leak, where the smell of fuel was perceptible.
In addition to the fact that leaking petrol is a burden on the environment, in a worst case scenario the engine could also catch fire. The affected engines were produced between March 2, 2023 and March 16, 2023.
Owners are requested to contact the BMW dealer who will inform the customer of the risk and replace the fuel distributor.
