With the electric ZS EV, MG briefly achieved great success in the Netherlands. The regular MG ZS has already been presented in a facelifted form in its home country of China, but Techzle can now show you the first images of the renewed electric ZS EV.

In the middle of last year, MG gave the regular versions of the ZS a facelift in China. Where MG only supplies the ZS in the Netherlands as an electric ZS EV, the brand also supplies the car with petrol engines in China. The ZS EV, called eZS in China, is still available at dealers in its original, unupdated form, both in our home country and China, but that will soon change. Techzle owns the patent plates of the new ZS EV.

At first glance, the ZS EV looks a lot like the current model, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. In fact, the whole front is being overhauled. Just like the updated Chinese version with petrol engines, the MG ZS EV will receive a set of new headlights, with LED technology equipped copies that are a bit more aggressive in the world than the well-known viewers. The front bumper of the new ZS EV is not only different from that of the current model, it also differs from the copy of its Chinese petrol brothers. More striking, however, is the grille. That is no longer a ‘closed version’ of the grille of the ZS with combustion engines, but a completely individual copy that visually forms more of one whole with the bumper. However, MG’s parent company SAIC Motors has again applied a cheerful pattern. The tailgate is also striking. With the current ZS EV, there is a flap centrally in the grille behind which the loading opening is hidden. The logo is on the flap. On the new ZS EV, the tailgate is located on the left side of the brand emblem.

The MG ZS EV will have the same new side mirrors as the renewed petrol versions already unveiled and at the rear, the renewed electric version is very similar to the renewed ZS presented last year. So here too a modified rear bumper, although you will of course not find any exhaust tailpipes on the ZS EV. The LED taillights will probably have the same layout as those of the petrol versions. Also new: the stubborn light-alloy wheels that you see on these patent plates.

Undoubtedly, the ZS EV’s interior will also be aligned with that of the petrol ZSs, meaning you can count on a 10.1-inch rather than an 8-inch infotainment system positioned more loosely on the center console. more integrated in the dashboard. More screen fun: the higher versions will probably have digital instruments.

We aim for MG to release more information about the European version of the renewed ZS EV later this year. Since the introduction of the ZS EV in the Netherlands, MG has sold 3,870 copies. No less than 2,180 of these found a Dutch owner last year.
