Review eufy Omni E28
We have to admit: when we placed the eufy Omni E28 in the living room, it took some getting used to. It is quite a large unit. It consists of a large charging station (with collection bin) and the robot vacuum cleaner itself is not exactly small either.
The price is also appropriate. The eufy Omni E28 has a suggested retail price of 999 euros, which is certainly not cheap for a robot vacuum cleaner. But it is regularly available at some discounts at some online stores such as bol or Amazon.
Placement: a large unit
As with any robot vacuum cleaner, you must keep in mind that the area around the charging station must remain clear. Otherwise, your vacuum cleaner may not be able to return to its station.
You need some space for this eufy. The charging station is 46.4 cm wide and 48.4 cm deep. In addition, it is about 37 cm high. The vacuum cleaner itself is 35.2 cm wide and 32.6 cm deep. You should also take into account that you leave some space for the charging station.

For this review of the eufy Omni E28, we placed the station in the living room against the wall and kept about a meter free at the front. That turned out to be more than enough free space for the E28 to easily return to its base station when necessary.
Installation: quick and easy
You need the eufy Clean app for installation. The app clearly worked and installation was quite easy. Including updating the firmware, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use within half an hour. You can also set the app in Dutch, but that sometimes felt a bit clumsy. That is why we have kept the app in English.
The vacuum cleaner has support for Matter, so you can use it with various smart home services. Connecting to Apple HomeKit is available with the eufy Clean app with Matter 1.4. There will be another one in the future update according to eufy for better support.

Vacuuming: an easy help at home
The robot itself is quite flat (about 11 centimeters) and can therefore fit under a large part of the furniture. It is recommended that you clear away as many objects as possible before switching on the vacuum cleaner for the first time. Think of shoes or a school bag for the children.
Then the E28 gets to work. With a ground floor of about 45 square meters, scanning the living room was completed within 20 minutes, which is quite quick. You will then see the map appear in real time in the app.
Once that has happened, you can indicate where you would rather not allow the robot vacuum cleaner to reach. For example, we have set the area near the low-hanging curtains as a no-go zone. We also didn’t think the hallway at the front door was necessary because this door is always closed anyway.
We do have our round table with five high chairs as a cleaning zone, because these chair legs often pose a challenge for many vacuum cleaners, just like a deep-pile carpet. We can already reveal that this went quite smoothly.
Cleaning goes very smoothly. You have different cleaning modes, but an average cleaning takes about 18 minutes. It was noticeable that he had some difficulty here and there navigating the forest of chair legs near the dining room chairs. The E28 also sometimes keeps ‘searching’ in empty spaces for a while. You also sometimes saw him hesitate when changing or moving chairs or tables.
Still, he did his job neatly. And he is also very careful. We have seen robot vacuum cleaners hit chair or table legs at full speed before, but that has not yet happened with this eufy E28.

It vacuums well and with the extendable brush it also gets into the corners. Almost 99 percent of the loose dirt is gone. Sometimes you have to use a hand vacuum cleaner to go to the difficult places that the E28 cannot reach, but every robot vacuum cleaner has that problem.
Mopping: with a handy roller mop
This eufy E28 can also mop. For mopping, it has a separate tank for cleaning products (which you can request for free). A new bottle costs about 22 euros. The E28 has a roller mop at the bottom instead of rotating pads that you often see on other vacuum cleaners.
It can scrub away stains on hard floors quite well and a spilled glass of milk was also cleaned up in no time. It also lifts the mop near a rug, so it’s also safe for a rug.
After mopping, the roller must be dried. Then the E28 will continue to hum softly for a few hours. If it is quiet in the house you will hear it. For example, if you have a television on, it won’t bother you.
During the review of this eufy E28 we used the mopping function several times and then a few hours of buzzing is a very long time. We finally set the robot vacuum cleaner to automatically mop the house at night once a week. Then the mop was dry again in the morning and the living room was nice and fresh and clean.
When the eufy E28 has finished vacuuming and mopping, it returns to the charging station and all dirt and dust is transferred to the collection bin. This is done with some noise and is much louder than the noise of a normal vacuum cleaner. So keep this in mind if you have pets.

With Portable Deep Cleaner: for the really dirty places
What makes this Omni E28 special is the ‘Portable Deep Cleaner’. This is a kind of separate vacuum cleaner that resembles a small carpet cleaner. It is built into the base station as standard, but you can easily lift it out with the large gray handle. The Deep Cleaner consists of a hose, spray nozzle and a water container. It is mainly made to clean stains in furniture, (high-pile) carpet and stairs.
The cleaning works well, but we found the plug cable to be rather short. It would be better if you could also use it without a socket. The device is also quite heavy with a full water tank (and cleaning agent).
This eufy E28 is also for sale without the Deep Cleaner. Then the recommended retail price is not 999 euros, but 899 euros.

Additional features and AI mode
The eufy E28 also has a few interesting functions. This way you can set the vacuum cleaner to follow you, to indicate exactly where it should clean. The feature works well, but it sometimes gets confused when multiple people walk by. Then the eufy tends to chase everyone like a dog to walk roll. The vacuum cleaner also suddenly finds shoes that are on the floor very interesting.
The E28 also has an AI mode and it also does a good job. The eufy then automatically adjusts cleaning to the room type and floor. It is a pity that you cannot adjust anything else. For example, the vacuuming and mopping options are always on when you turn on the function.
Conclusion: eufy Omni E28 review
The eufy Omni E28 is one of the better robot vacuum cleaners. He is fast and knows how to deal with obstacles. Even with deep pile carpet it does not get stuck. The fact that this robot vacuum cleaner sometimes has to think about its route is not disturbing.
He is one of the best at cleaning. The eufy E28 can even extend one of its brushes slightly to reach the corners.
The mopping function also works fine. Recent stains can be cleaned up in no time, but stains that have been on your floor for a while can sometimes use an extra wipe with a cloth. The mop does take a long time to dry and the charging station continues to hum softly during that time. If the house is otherwise quiet, it can be a bit disturbing.
The app is clear and works clearly. You also have plenty of options to set up cleaning. Some translations are a bit clumsy, but that is not very annoying. You can easily set when the vacuum cleaner should do its thing and when it should make absolutely no noise. Adding no-go zones is also easy.
The Deep Cleaner is a great addition. And when you need it, it is really useful. We have to admit that we only needed this Deep Cleaner once during the review of the eufy E28. So you have to decide for yourself whether the extra option is worth the 100 euros.
Furthermore, the robot vacuum cleaner is easy to maintain. Hair and other dirt hardly get stuck in the brushes thanks to the special cleaning routine, and that is nice. You still have to freshen the bottom every now and then, but it’s a lot less often than with other robot vacuum cleaners.
