The Netgear Orbi NBK752 is a kit consisting of an Orbi router NBR750 and an Orbi satellite NBS750, primarily developed for wireless internet communication over 5G.
Aad Munsterman, Tijn Beuken and Rob Coenraads
The router function is required for this 5G communication, in WAN mode you can also configure the NBR750 as an Access Point (AP). The router has a nano-slot for a 4G/5Gsim. The total bandwidth is 4200 Mbps, including 2400 Mbps on the 5GHz band for the so-called backhaul†The WiFi security works up to WPA3, but not yet in the combination WPA2 + WPA3. Each unit has two LAN ports for connecting drives or wired backhaul. The installation is done via the Netgear Orbi app, with the sim the mobile version is installed. Nice speeds are achieved with a KPN 4G Data-only sim; once the fast 5G variant is available, speeds and latency will improve significantly. Impressive are the Iperf3 net data test results between satellite and router between 2 LAN ports (see website), the WiFi speed is about 500 Mbps.
This kit is ideal for locations where wired internet is not available or where backup for a wired connection is required due to high availability requirements.
