Nuki 1

The Austrian Nuki has intelligent door openers with many functions and additional products to simplify access to buildings. The base consists of a unit which is simply mounted on the inside of the door over the edge of the cylinder with key. The door can be opened manually, via the app or automatically with Auto Unlock when you are at the door or optionally via a fob (remote control), or with a keypad can be opened with fingerprint or PIN code. Many settings are possible via the handy NUKI app, such as automatically activating the night lock at a certain time.

We have previously extensively tested the previous generation Nuki Smart Lock Pro.

The fourth generation Pro has a wifi bridge built-in, which is necessary to control the lock via a local network or Internet that supports the new universal smart Thread/Matter protocol. During the test phase we also found that automatically opening the door works faster. In addition, according to the specifications, the battery life has been extended, with the Pro being rechargeable Power Pack used.

We got communication with Matter up and running via a separate one Thread Border Router from a Google Nest Hub. As a finding we see that on the side of the Smart Home Units some optimization is still needed to ensure optimal control.
