Apple may be preparing a major expansion of its laptop collection. The company is said to be working on a larger, 15-inch MacBook Air and a smaller MacBook with 12-inch screen.
Bigger and smaller MacBook on the way
Apple has only just unveiled the new MacBook Air 2022, but the company is already thinking about the future. According to the renowned Bloomberg the company is working on two new laptops. It’s a 15-inch MacBook Air, which we wrote about earlier, and a smaller 12-inch MacBook.
Originally, Apple wanted to launch the larger Air during WWDC 2022, along with the 13.6-inch variant. Presumably this has been waived due to shortages at suppliers. The ‘regular’ Air will also only be available in a month’s time. Apple is now aiming for a release at the beginning of 2023. The device will have the same design as its smaller brother.

In addition, Apple has another MacBook in the pipeline. It is a 12-inch model that should appear in late 2023 or early 2024. It is unclear whether it is an Air, Pro or other variant. Between 2015 and 2019, Apple already offered a 12-inch laptop that was simply called ‘MacBook’. The company may breathe new life into that line. At the time, there was criticism of the slow operation of the device, but with an M2 chip it should be a lot faster.
New MacBook Pros also on the way
Bloomberg also shares less surprising news. Apple has plans for successors to the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro. These laptops would not undergo any major changes. They do get a faster processor. We should probably think of the M2 Pro and M2 Max. Apple plans to release these laptops by the end of this year. However, the aforementioned delivery issues could push the release to the first quarter of 2023.
