Do you remember the end of Severance Season 1 yet? Probably, because how can you forget that cliffhanger. Not seen? No worries, here you will not find spoilers for now, but one Severance-Spoed course doesn’t hurt.

This series on Apple TV+ is all about Mark S. (Adam Scott), who, like his colleagues at Lumon Industries, has undergone the so-called ‘Severance procedure’. In other words, an operation in which a brain implant is inserted. This keeps the memories of your work and private life separate: you enter your office and you know nothing more about your life outside, and vice versa.

That scenario looks ideal on paper – never work consciously again! – But because of this there is also a version of you whose entire life plays within the office walls. Also in the case of Mark and his team, consisting of Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro). So they will never see the outside world … right?

Note, spoilers in sight! For example, in season 1 we saw how the four colleagues rebelled more and more and forged a plan to explore the outside world. Mega spoiler: Mission successful! Mark and the rest kept it full for about 39 minutes until they were caught, but this was enough to interfere with their private lives, to put things up and let the mysterious board members sweat at Lumon. And to let viewers yearn for more.

Review: Does Severance season 2 make the expectations true?

It took three years, but Severance Is finally back. Just to fall with the door: season 2, waiting is more than worth it. And that becomes clear from the first episode.

Season 2 starts from the point where season 1 has stopped, with an opening scene that ensures that you immediately see in the series – even after three years of waiting. Especially because this piece has been portrayed so special. This sets the tone immediately, because the rest of the season is (so far) just as exciting, just as compelling and just as impressively filmed.

The more episodes, the better

At the moment, the first seven episodes (out of ten) are out, which have already exceeded all expectations. For example, episode three ended with a cliffhanger that you would expect earlier at a season finale, and number four takes you on an excursion to unknown terrain. Severance Seems such a rare series that gets better with every episode.

The power is mainly in mysticism. Even in season 2 there are few questions that are really answered: what damage did the colleagues have caused with their escape attempt and what work does Lumon actually do? Severance Gives you only a few crumbs to information, but for every crumb you get five new questions back. A bit à la Unloading So. This keeps you on the tip of your chair, especially in combination with the absurd and exciting turns that follow.

The actors also earn all the praise. They know how to play their roles with charm and conviction, so you hope that the team members will end up on their feet. Lower and Turturro thus get the crown (just wait until episode four) and bring out the utmost. Make those two alone Severance A pleasure to look at.

Conclusion: let season 3 come!

The combination of nerve -racking scenes, mysterious storylines and strong acting work may make Severance the best series of the moment. As a result, it is almost a shame that the first seven episodes of the new season are already available. The question now is whether the end also meets that quality. And whether the characters get their way. One thing is certain: season 3 cannot come fast enough. Please don’t let that take another three years!
