Soundcore Aeroclip: ideal clip-on earplugs for outdoor athletes

Fit

In doing (or perhaps better ‘doing’) is getting used to in the beginning, but would soon clamp the aeroclip around your earcup, the speaker is almost immediately in the right place. And there it also stays, even if you shake your head firmly a few times. And if the Aeroclip is a bit too loose for you, you simply use the supplied ‘Ear Grips’. These are covers in two different thicknesses. With that you make the back of the aeroclip thicker, making it tighter around your earcup.

Sound quality

The first thing that stands out when you use the Soundcore Aeroclip is that you have to set the volume fairly high. That is also a logical consequence of the design – the loudspeaker is not in your ear, but a piece from it. So you solve that by raising the volume a little higher. That in turn has the consequence that people around you can hear a little better what you are listening to. No problem during outdoor sports of course. But if you also use the Aeroclip in the office, possibly something to take into account.

The sound quality is also surprisingly good! You should not immediately compare it with in-ears such as the AirPods Pro 2, because that sound (partly due to the design) is just fuller and more powerful. The quality is absolutely good enough to really enjoy music and podcasts. That your traffic noises still hear through it is of course an advantage for outdoor athletes.

Charging case

The special design of the Soundcore Aeroclip requires a relatively large charging case. If you compare the case with that of the AirPods Pro 2, you will see that it is especially a lot thicker. That is not insurmountable, but of course it is just a bit less pleasant in your pocket. You cannot charge the charging case wirelessly, but only via the USB C connection. A cable from USB A to USB C is supplied.

Duration

If the Soundcore Aeroclip is fully charged, you can listen to it for about 8 hours. Is the battery unexpectedly empty? Then only 10 minutes of charging is enough to listen to music again for 3 hours. Moreover, the charging case is fully charged for about 24 hours of listening pleasure. All in all a very neat battery life.

Operation

The Soundcore Aeroclip is very user -friendly overall. You simply link the first time by removing the ears from the case, removing the foil and placing them again. The clutch mode is then automatically started. Thanks to Multipoint Connection you can also connect them to a second device, such as your MacBook. To switch on Multipoint Connection, place the ears in the case again and hold the button on it for 3 seconds until the light starts to blink.

There is also touch control, which works by tapping the outer edge of the ring. Stopping audio and playing again works very intuitively by tapping twice. Tap three times and you go to the next song. Going to the previous number is not an option as standard. But luckily you can adjust this to your own wishes in the Soundcore app.

In addition to adjusting the touch control, you can also use the app to connect a second device (Dual Connections) and to find your Aeroclip ears if you have lost them. There is of course also an equalizer with which you can boost the bass, or the volume. In addition, you will also find background noises that can help you concentrate. Think of a crackling fire or a spinning cat. You can also see in the app at a glance how the batteries of the ears and the charging case are doing.

Soundcore Aeroclip: Conclusion

If you are looking for open-ear clip-on earplugs that stay in place during exercise, then the Soundcore Aeroclip is an excellent choice. The fit is excellent and the sound quality is surprisingly good, although you have to set the volume quite high. Nevertheless, you continue to hear environmental sounds, which is so safe when you are exercising outside. The battery life is also good and thanks to Multipoint Connection you switch seamlessly between your iPhone and, for example, your MacBook.

The only possible disadvantage is the charging case is pretty thick and therefore less pleasant in your pocket. As far as we are concerned, however, it is not an insurmountable problem. And if you would like Noise Cancellation, then you are of course at the wrong address with this design. Given the price of 130 euros, you get relatively much value for money. The Bose Ultra Open Earplugs Maybe have more quality to offer, but you also pay around 350 euros for that.
