The game Space Invaders turned 45 years old and that’s why Taito and Google are releasing a new fun version of this game with Space Invaders World Defense. In this Augmented Reality version of Space Invaders, you have to defend your environment and the whole world on your smartphone, together with other players.

Space Invaders, I played that game for hours, first on the Atari and that was a long time ago. And it shows, because Space Invaders has been around for 45 years. In honor of the 45th anniversary of the iconic game SPACE INVADERS, Google has teamed up with TAITO, the game’s developer, and Unit9 to transform the world into a playground – thanks to augmented reality (AR). SPACE INVADERS: World Defense is a mobile game on Android and iOS and on the Play Store it is almost 91 MB in size. Space Invaders World Defense invites players from all over the world to go out and defend the Earth. Space Invaders spawn from buildings and rooftops, hide behind structures, and hover in the air. Players from around the world can work together to save the planet.

Players explore their neighborhoods to discover new Space Invaders and score points by taking them out. They can unlock special power-ups, compete with friends for the high score near their location, and share their achievements on social media with an AR selfie.

Augmented realityy
The game is powered by Google’s ARCore and Geospatial API, using the player’s immediate environment and nearby buildings, landscapes, and other architectural elements to design engaging levels in the real world with AR and on-screen only with 3D. The ameplay adapts to the player’s real world, including location, time, and local weather.

Augmented reality (AR) combines the physical and digital worlds and transforms the way people shop, learn, play and interact with content. Brands and creators can use AR to bring their content closer to people and help them experience the world in a whole new dimension. Google recently announced Geospatial Creator, which makes it easy for developers, creators and animators to create and publish location-based AR experiences, without coding, in the tools they already know and love: Unity and Adobe Aero.
