Both Peugeot Sport and Peugeot’s CEO share a special 508 on Twitter. The French seem to be one step further with the upcoming sporting plug-in 508.
Last year, Peugeot will show the 508 Sport Engineered Concept at the Swiss salon. That is an extra thick 508 with a 400 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain under the hood. The dark gray paint is finished with light green accents. Peugeots CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, together with Peugeots Sport division, is now sharing photos of a more developed copy of the same car. The smooth varnish makes way for a sportier wrap, while the green accents remain. The extra bumpers on all around, where a kind of wings are mounted, also stand out immediately. On the walls of the production lab it is written here and there ‘engineered’; a nod to last year’s concept car?
Small “05-dev” along with three green lines are scrolled on the side. Nothing is said about a definitive powertrain. The most powerful plug-in version of the 508 now has 225 hp. It could be that Peugeot is now also preparing the more powerful powertrain from the 3008 with 300 hp for the 508. Another possibility is that Peugeot comes with an even more powerful new engine variant. Perhaps that version will make its debut during the coming car fair in early March.
