A major update has been rolled out for the Spotify app, but this will not really benefit everyone who uses Spotify. You need to know this!
Spotify app has a major update
The fact that this update does not benefit everyone is because Spotify has different apps. In this case, the major update is not about the app on your iPhone, but about the version that you can use on the Apple TV. The new app comes just before we expect a new version of the Apple TV 4K.
The new app is available via the tvOS App Store and has been completely redesigned, according to a Spotify spokesperson. The improvements are based on user feedback and should provide a faster, smarter and more visual experience. Here are the key features you can expect in the new Spotify app:
- A brand new design that fits perfectly with tvOS;
- Improved video for podcasts and music clips;
- Remote control via Apple TV Connect;
- Lyrics are now available;
- Recommendations for Spotify DJs;
- Queue management;
- Adjust playback speed of podcasts and videos.

Spotify in the living room
The difference between Apple Music and Spotify’s tvOS apps has long been quite significant. But thanks to this new update, hopefully you’ll no longer feel like you’re getting an inferior big-screen experience with Spotify via Apple TV.
Spotify also recently launched one agreement closed to stream some of its podcasts exclusively through Netflix. The Apple TV update that has now been released is another important step to boost Spotify content in the living room.
It is not yet clear whether the new functions of the app will eventually be extended to the app on your iPhone. If that turns out to be the case, you will of course read it immediately on iPhoned.
