The DeBruyn Ferox V8 is a new Dutch sports car designed by Maarten de Bruijn. It is the man who re-founded Spyker at the end of the last century, after having dreamed of starting his own sports car brand since 1990. This year he returns with the Ferox V8, a 1,000 kilo light sports car made of aluminum with a 500 hp engine. Last weekend the new car debuted at Wheels at the Palace at Soestdijk Palace.

The only prototype, which is very recognizable as a design by Maarten de Bruijn, has an Audi V8 with 350 hp, just like the Spykers from the beginning of this century. The versions that will be delivered to customers will have a GM 6.2 V8 with 500 hp. It is linked to a six-speed manual transmission, because the car has been kept as analogue as possible. The goal is to create one of the last real driver’s cars.

Dutch work

Every detail of the car was designed by De Bruijn himself, and adjustments have also been made to the American eight-cylinder. The car has a self-designed flywheel, and the wheels are also a design by De Bruijn himself: “Every detail on the car must be a work of art in itself,” says the car manufacturer. De Bruijn built the aluminum body of the first car – which attracted a lot of attention last weekend at the classic event in the gardens of Soestdijk Palace – himself. For the production versions, the traditional craftsmanship is done by Jansen coachbuilding in Wesepe, a well-known restorer of classics.

In addition to Maarten de Bruijn, two partners are involved in the start of this new project. The Ferox V8 is built entirely by hand and starts at €650,000 excluding taxes. According to one of the partners we spoke to at Wheels at the Palace, three copies of the Ferox V8 have already been sold.
