The stream of rumors surrounding the iPhone SE 4 continues to circulate. Now there are the first concrete rumors that point to a possible release. And that may be sooner than expected.
iPhone SE 2025 earlier
The iPhone SE is Apple’s ‘budget’ line of phones. It usually involves an iPhone that uses an old casing (and thus somewhat old-fashioned looks), but combined with the latest hardware. The first iPhone SE came out in 2016, followed by a model in 2020 and one in 2022.
The iPhone SE 4 was originally expected in the spring of this year, but that didn’t happen. Many analysts then predicted a release in the spring of 2025. According to a new rumor, it could possibly be even earlier.
Production starts already in October
If we are to believe The Information’s sources, production for the iPhone SE 4 will start as early as October this year. That would be – as expected – after the launch of the iPhone 16 in September, but well before the usual start of production for previous SEs.
Speaking of the iPhone 16: according to other rumors, the new iPhone SE will look exactly like that new device. Both in terms of appearance and on the inside. For example, there is talk of an OLED display, 48-megapixel camera and even an A18 chip.
Launching in January?
Production of a new iPhone usually starts about three months before it hits stores. Can we then conclude that the iPhone SE 4 will be released in January 2025? Perhaps, because that is also what The Information claims. It wouldn’t be the first time that Apple has introduced new hardware in January, it is just a bit unusual.
All previous iPhone SEs were released in March, an SE in January had never been released. At the same time, Apple has shown in recent years that it no longer necessarily sticks to its tight schedules. The most recent iPad Pros and MacBooks, for example, were released at unusual times.
One thing is for sure: the iPhone SE 4 is coming
Even though it’s not entirely clear when – we can say pretty definitively that the SE 4 is coming. Whether in January, March or April? Only time will tell.
