The Suzuki Swift Sport now goes through life with a renewed power source with mild hybrid technology. Suzuki announces the precise new specifications and opens the order books.
Suzuki has recently been working on a new version of the 1.4 Boosterjet petrol engine, which is equipped with a mild hybrid system that operates on 48V on-board voltage. That block is now completely ready and finds its way to the Suzuki Swift Sport. The sportiest version of the Swift exchanges the current 1.4 for this new variant and now has 129 hp, with the support of the 10 kW (14 hp) starter motor. As we mentioned earlier, the maximum torque has increased slightly to 235 Nm and is now available at a lower speed.
All in all, it should provide comparable performance to the Swift Sport with the ‘old’ 1.4, with lower CO2 emissions and up to 15 percent less fuel consumption. The biggest cost advantage must be shown at the pump, because the starting price is unchanged; € 25,399. You do get a bit more extensive standard equipment for this; safety systems such as Lane Departure Warning, brake assistance, traffic sign recognition and rear parking sensors are now standard. There is now also a choice of several metallic paint colors at no extra cost. The Swift Sport can be ordered immediately and, according to the Dutch importer, will be at the dealer from the beginning of May.
