The new AirPods Pro 2 have been in Dutch stores since September 23. The website iFixit has since taken them all apart in a teardown video. Unfortunately, repairing the AirPods Pro 2 is still impossible.
AirPods Pro 2: Fixing is Impossible
By default, iFixit disassembles all new Apple products to see if they can be repaired. For example, it recently turned out that the iPhone 14 works a lot better fix than the iPhone 13. The AirPods Pro in 2019, however, came off particularly poorly in terms of reparability.
Unfortunately, things aren’t much better with the new AirPods Pro 2. Opening the new AirPods and the case will result in irreparable damage no matter what you try. Apple has not improved anything in that regard compared to the first version. So repairing AirPods Pro 2 is again impossible.

In the video from iFixit you can see, among other things, that the metal insert in the case, for attaching a lanyard, is attached to the Lightning connector in the case. Possibly the piece of metal serves as an antenna for the U1 chip, which makes the ‘Find My’ support possible. Watch the video of the AirPods Pro 2 teardown below.
iFixit goes on to say, “The AirPods are the most popular earbuds in the world, but also the most irreparable. With the new AirPods Pro 2, the earbuds get a boost on all fronts, except when it comes to environmental impact.”
All in all, according to iFixit, there aren’t too many surprises inside the new AirPods Pro and case. Because they are still beyond repair, they remain just as environmentally unfriendly as their predecessors.
