FSD for other brands?

Tesla is already quite advanced when it comes to self-driving cars and sees itself as a pioneer for the car industry in this area. CEO Elon Musk says he is willing to share the technology with other car manufacturers.
More and more car manufacturers are going back somewhat on their ambitions in the field of self-driving cars. Tesla remains busy with it and is already experimenting on a large scale in practice with self-driving cars, with FSD (Full Self-Driving) Beta. Although FSD and its testing in practice is not without controversy, the consensus is that Tesla is one of the market leaders in self-driving cars. In that light, a new statement from Tesla CEO Elon Musk is interesting. The striking billionaire states on Twitter that Tesla would like to share FSD’s technology with other manufacturers.
Musk says Tesla “strives to be as helpful as possible to other automakers.” “We made all of our patents freely available several years ago. Now we enable other companies to use our Supercharger network and are happy to offer Autopilot/FSD or other Tesla technology under license.” The ‘under license’ is of course an important condition, you can count on it that Tesla – and rightly so of course – can make a lot of money if it can sell the FSD to another car manufacturer.
Now it remains to be seen whether Musk’s offer finds fertile ground somewhere. In any case, Ford recently showed that it is willing to follow Tesla by preparing its cars in the US for the Tesla Superchargers. Ford already has a brand new department in Latitude AI that focuses on autonomous driving. General Motors is working on autonomous driving with Ultra Cruise, but that is still relatively in its infancy. Stellantis is going to work with software company aiMotive and Volkswagen with Cariad. Toyota is following Tesla’s approach in the development of autonomous driving, so perhaps an interesting collaboration is still possible there?
What do you think, will FSD be used under license by other car manufacturers? Where are the greatest opportunities? Let me know in the comments.
