The benefits of an eSim

The cheapest eSim plans from January 2024

An eSim is a digital version of your SIM card. Your provider’s profile will be loaded with all your data. This profile knows which bundle you have chosen, after which you use data and calling minutes as you are used to.

iPhones have been supporting eSim for some time, so there is a good chance that you will also switch without any problems. It is possible to use both a physical SIM card and an eSIM. This makes it possible to use your private SIM card and at the same time be reachable for work via the same device.

An eSim offers many advantages, but in use it will not be much different with a physical SIM card. Switching between SIM cards is now a lot faster. You no longer have to wait at the mailbox for your card to be delivered, because you scan a QR code. The data is loaded directly onto your iPhone and you can immediately use your bundle.

You will no longer lose the SIM card and it cannot be broken. However, there is a disadvantage to the eSim. Activation works via a digital code that can be discovered by malicious parties. This allows them to make off with your SIM card and data, such as your telephone number. Fortunately, by using good security, this chance is limited.
