Thanks to the current close cooperation between EU member states when it comes to traffic fines, as a Dutch person in the countries around us you can no longer just get out of a traffic fine. Belgium seems to have its hands full with sending fines to Dutch people. In 2020, a Dutch person driving too fast in Belgium has been fined 87,129 times to date. That message it Algemeen Dagblad.
When the Belgians list which foreigners speed the most in their country, the dubious honor goes to the Dutch. The French are in second place with more than 76,000 speed exceedings, followed by the Luxembourgers (31,186) and Germans (24,837). Not surprisingly, the surrounding countries provide the highest figures, although it is striking that Luxembourg is very colorful with its only 614,000 inhabitants.
