Charge other iPhones with the iPhone 15
The iPhone 15 was officially announced during the Wonderlust event and the phone gets a very cool feature. With the iPhone 15 it is possible to charge other iPhones. To do this, all you have to do is connect the iPhones to each other via a charging cable. You do need a Lightning to USB-C cable for this, because the iPhone 15 has a USB-C port for the first time.

With the iPhone 15 you get a standard cable with a USB-C connection at both ends. This means you cannot charge an iPhone 14 or older, because these phones still have a Lightning port. Unfortunately, charging is not very fast, because the charging speed is limited to 4.5 Watts. This means that it will take some time to fully charge another iPhone with an iPhone 15.
This is how charging other devices works
Charging other iPhones with an iPhone 15 works in different ways, depending on the device you connect to the iPhone 15. When you connect another iPhone via a Lightning connection, this phone will always be charged by the iPhone 15. Close your two iPhone 15 models together? The device with the lowest battery life is then charged.
The new function is not limited to iPhones, other phones can also be charged with the iPhone 15. How this is done depends on the device. If the phone supports USB Power Delivery, it will charge the device with the least battery percentage. Is the USB PD support missing? Then it is often random which phone is being charged.
Apple Watch and AirPods empty? No problem
So it is possible to charge other phones with the iPhone 15, but that’s not all. You can also charge accessories, such as the Apple Watch and AirPods. For the Apple Watch you must have a USB-C cable so that the iPhone 15 can be connected. This cable is already included as standard with the new Watches. This means you no longer have to take a power bank with you!
