Previous reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Air has a lot in common with the ‘regular’ iPhone 17. After all, he replaces the Plus model from the previous series. For example, the Air and the ‘regular’ model would get less memory than the PRO models. They would also have a less powerful A19 chip and the materials would be of lesser quality than those of the pros.
According to new rumors, however, the device is much closer to the pro models than we thought so far. Ming-Chi Kuo already claimed this spring that the iPhone 17 AIR 12 GB would get memory, just like the Pro models. The iPhone 17, on the other hand, would get stuck at 8 GB. WeIBO user Fixed Focus Digital Has this rumor now confirmed: the iPhone 17 Air gets 12 GB of memory.
A 19 Pro chip
In the same message, Fixed Focus Digital says that Apple will also upgrade the Air chip. Instead of the A19 chip that was expected earlier, the iPhone 17 Air would now get an A19 Pro chip with one GPU core less. We do not yet know how much difference there is between an A19 and A19 Pro except the number of GPUs. But it is certainly interesting if Apple does indeed give the Air model a chip of ‘Pro’ class.
Furthermore, Apple’s Pro models often distinguish itself with a titanium finish and more muted color options. This year the Pro and Pro Max is expected to be made of aluminum instead of titanium. As a result, an important difference in design is lost. In addition, the leaked iPhone 17 Air colors do not seem to be far away from what we expect with pro models. Three of the four look like the current colors black, white and desert of the pros. And the fourth color is a blue shade that is said to be not very saturated.
The iPhone 17 Pro models will of course still have many benefits compared to the Air. Two important points are the cameras and the battery life. If you want the best camera system and the best battery life, you will automatically arrive at the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apart from that, the new Air looks more like a pro model than we thought so far.
