The iPhone SE 4, which will be launched in 2025, will have the best features of the iPhone 14 and 15, and will cost less than the iPhone 13. Here’s what you can expect.
The iPhone SE 4 will be released in 2025
It’s been more than two years since Apple released the iPhone SE 3. We were already starting to lose hope for a new model, but since a few recent rumors, that hope has returned. And a new rumor adds even more to the story.
According to a Weibo account (via LIANDR on X), the iPhone SE 4 will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, just like the iPhone SE 2 (April 2020) and iPhone SE 3 (March 2022). So there is not two years between the iPhone SE 3 and SE 4, but three years. But if the new rumor is true, an extra year of waiting is definitely worth it.
Known and new specifications
First off, the rumor confirms a few things we’ve heard before. The SE 4 will reportedly have a 6.1-inch OLED screen, which is a significant upgrade over the current 4.7-inch LCD screen. What we also already knew is that it will be the first iPhone SE that will no longer have Touch ID, but Face ID and a notch like the iPhone 14.
What we had not yet heard is that the new iPhone SE will have an A16 processor that we know from the iPhone 15. And it will be equipped with LPDDR5 RAM memory instead of LPDDR4X memory that is in the current model. Furthermore, the new SE will probably have USB-C instead of Lightning and a 3279 mAh battery. That’s about the same capacity as the iPhone 14’s battery, which is much more powerful than the 2018 mAh battery found in the current SE.
A 48-megapixel camera
According to the rumor, there will only be one camera on the back, but it will be the same 48-megapixel camera that we know from the iPhone 15. Assuming that the specifications are the same, this means a huge upgrade compared to the camera that is in the current iPhone SE is.
All in all, the new iPhone SE gets a combination of some of the best iPhone 14 and 15 features. And all that for a fantastic price. The rumor is that the price will be $499. That’s $70 more than the current SE model, but also $100 less than what Apple currently asks for its cheapest old (regular) iPhone.
Of course, everything can still change, but if the rumor is true, the iPhone SE 4 will be the best budget iPhone that Apple has ever sold. Let’s hope it actually comes to market this time.
