
On September 11, 1973, the Chilean army launched a coup against the socialist president Salvador Allende. The second episode of the new podcast deals with how Allende had won the election three years earlier, on September 4, 1970, and why the USA in particular intrigued against the left-wing alliance he led at an early stage.
In “THEN and now. The podcast on history ”, the historians Felix Melching and David Neuhäuser report on the dramatic events in the South American country and shed light on the background. The first episode of the new format met with widespread interest, with history buffs from 25 countries calling up the report on the failure of the Nobile expedition in the Arctic in May 1928.
