Apple is releasing the iPhone 17 Pro this year and there are major changes to the phone. These 10 functions are expected with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max!
Functions of the iPhone 17 Pro
The iPhone 17 Pro appears in September and according to rumors the iPhone will have a large number of improvements this year. The housing of the telephone is adjusted, so that we see another camera island for the first time in years. That’s not all, because the phone also gets a new processor and an improved camera. Curious about what is changing? These 10 functions come to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max:
1. Titanium disappears
Apple introduced a housing of titanium with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) had the same housing, but that changes with the iPhone 17 Pro (Max). With this year’s pro models, Titanium makes way for aluminum. The back of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) consists of an aluminum and glass part. With the glass back it is possible to charge the phone wirelessly.
2. New camera island
We see the biggest change with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at the Camera Island. It gets much bigger with the telephones, according to rumors the devices get a rectangular camera island. With the current PRO models that is still a square, but that will change this year. The arrangement of the cameras does not change, the lenses are placed in a triangle again.
3. Improved display
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get an improved screen according to rumors. Both devices are said to have a display with a layer that should stop reflections. In addition, the new layer ensures that the display is better protected against damage. Reflections and scratches are therefore less likely to be a problem with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
4. Larger battery
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is currently the iPhone with the longest battery life, but that will change this year. Apple provides the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a larger battery, so you have to put the phone on the charger less quickly. The iPhone 16 Pro Max lasts up to 33 hours, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max that is probably even longer. The housing of the phone is slightly thicker due to the larger battery. It is still unclear whether the iPhone 17 Pro will also get an improved battery.
5. A19 Pro chip
So there are major changes to the housing of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but that’s not all. Apple also has a number of adjustments under the hood. The telephones are provided with the new A19 Pro chip. This processor is faster and more powerful than the A18 Pro chip, on which the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max run.
6. WiFi 7
At the iPhone 16th we saw Apple’s new C1 modem, which was produced by the company itself. It is expected that Apple will also use its own chip with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which will bring WiFi 7 to the devices. This WiFi 7 chip is manufactured by Apple itself, with the current iPhone, Broadcom does that. The new chip also comes to the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Plus, giving all new iPhones support for WiFi 7.
7. Better front camera
The front camera of the iPhone has been unchanged for years, but finally gets an update with the iPhone 17. According to rumors, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get a 24-megapixel front camera. That is a big improvement, because the current iPhones still have to do with a 12-megapixel front camera. With the improved camera you can make photos and videos of much higher quality.
8. Televelens
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the first iPhones with three 48-megapixel cameras. The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) already has a 48-megapixel main and ultra-wide angle lens, but the Televelens still has 12 megapixels. With the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple introduces the 48-megapixel Televelens. Both on the front and the back we see camera improvements with the telephones.
9. 12 GB RAM
The new processor is said to be with more memory. Both the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get no less than 12 GB of memory. With the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) that is 8 GB, just like with the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. According to rumors, only the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get more memory, with the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Plus that 8 GB RAM remains.
10. Temperature control
Apple is working on a new internal design, which should better regulate the heat in the iPhone. This new thermal design is used for the first time with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple uses a new cooling technique, which ensures that the heat is better spread over the housing. For example, overheating is prevented that with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) there was still a big problem.
Release of the iPhone 17
So there are many new functions to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The devices receive an adapted design, improved cameras and a completely new chip. Little is known about the price, it is quite possible that the starting prices of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be taken over. In that case the iPhone 17 Pro is available for 1229 euros, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max it will be 1479 euros.
We still have to wait a while for the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, because the phones only appear in September. Then Apple also presents the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air.
