There are four new cool camera functions that are probably introduced on the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in September.
4 camera functions for the iPhone 17 Pro (Max)
The unveiling of the iPhone 17 series will take place in a few months. We expect 4 new camera functions on the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) and we list them for you.
1. 48 megapixel zoom camera
Since the release of the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019 we have seen three cameras on the back of the iPhone Pro models as standard. These three cameras usually develop at different times. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro introduced a 48 megapixel sensor for the most important wide -angle camera. Last year the iPhone 16 Pro increased the resolution from the ultragro area camera to 48 megapixel.
It is expected that the iPhone 17 Pro will also upgrade the Zoomlens to 48 megapixels. This change may affect the standard zoom option in the camera app (currently 5x).
2. Video recording with two cameras at the same time
There are rumors that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have an exclusive new function in the camera app. It is about support for video recordings with multiple cameras at the same time. Apps from third parties have long offered the possibility to record video simultaneously. This function was never available before in Apple’s camera app.
It is unknown why Apple makes this function exclusively for new hardware. There may be new possibilities for recordings with multiple cameras that we have never seen before.
3. New 24 megapixel front camera
One of the new camera functions of the iPhone 17 Pro relates to the front camera. It has been a while since Apple has made changes to the front camera. That seems to change this year. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, together with the more affordable 17 and 17 Air, is expected to all receive a brand new 24 megapixel TrueDepth camera on the front. The current front camera has 12 megapixel and that has been the case for years.
4. Newly designed camera island
The term ‘camera island’ has been used for more than ten years. Apple is planning to extend the camera island on the iPhone 17 Pro (MAX) into a camera ‘bar’ over the entire width of the back. Certain parts, such as the flash, are therefore further away from the cameras.
We do not yet know what the functional benefits of the new design are, but we can be sure that Apple does not implement this change for no good reason.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have the best camera functions
Camera improvements are always an important highlight with new iPhones and that seems to be no different this year. The ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air will undoubtedly seduce many pro users, but the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max still have the best cameras.
