It’s been a while since new emojis were added. So it was time for an addition again. Now with the first beta of iOS 17.4 you can get started again with a few new emojis. There aren’t very many this time, but some are quite fun or useful. For example, think of a face that can shake yes or no.

Below you will find the list of the names of the new emojis that you can use immediately in iOS 17.4.

  • Brown mushroom
  • phoenix
  • Broken chain
  • Lime
  • Head shaking back and forth
  • Head shaking up and down

In addition to these emojis, there are also a handful of new family combinations, and there are a few additional variations of existing emojis that now face left or right.

When are the new emojis coming?

You’ll be able to use the new emojis when iOS 17.4 is released (and your friends have also updated to that version). The new emojis will also be found in iPadOS 17.4.

It is difficult to say exactly when this update will come. At the moment, only the first beta has been released. Yet there is one more important part in iOS 17.4 and this is it sideloading. This allows you to use alternative app stores and download apps from them.

Apple has until March 6, 2024 to allow app sideloading in EU iOS and iPadOS. This happens in iOS 17.4 (and iPadOS 17.4), which means Apple has a limited time to release the update. So you’ll probably be able to start using iOS 17.4’s new emojis as early as March.
