According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there are two Apple Intelligence features that won’t be released for a few months. Here’s what you need to know.
These Apple Intelligence features are coming in iOS 18.2
In his Power On-newsletter, Gurman said that Apple plans to add two Apple Intelligence features to iOS at a later date. The features Image Playground for generating images and Genmoji for generating custom emoji. These features probably won’t appear in the first version of iOS 18, but in iOS 18.2. We expect that version of iOS in December.

All other Apple Intelligence features are expected to be available right away in iOS 18.1, which is expected to be released to the general public in October. These AI features include new writing tools for generating and summarizing text, notification summaries, suggested replies in the Messages app, the ability to record and convert phone calls to text, a new tool in the Photos app that lets you quickly remove objects from a photo, and more.
To get Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1 or later. Apple Intelligence is also coming to iPad and Mac, but not all devices will be upgraded with Apple’s latest software. For that, the iPad or Mac must run on an M1 chip or later. The iPhone requires an A17 Pro chip. All models of the new iPhone 16 series support Apple Intelligence.
The features are initially only available in English, other languages will follow later. Furthermore, it is not yet clear when Apple Intelligence will be available in Europe. Apple is negotiating with the EU about this.
