The HBO MAX subscription with the lifelong discount disappears, but which subscription will replace it? You need to know this.
This HBO Max subscription disappears (and this will change)
When HBO Max was new, you could take a special subscription where you received a lifelong discount of 50 percent. However, HBO Max has decided to stop this original subscription. Instead, a new HBO Max Standard subscription has been added.
If you do nothing you will automatically be transferred to this new subscription. The standard price is 9.99 euros per month, but if you now have the lifelong discount you will receive this subscription for 4.99 euros per month. That sounds great, but you will lose a few things with this new subscription.
With the new Standard subscription you get:
- 2 streams;
- 30 downloads;
- HD & Dolby 5.1;
- Sdr.
With the old subscription, however, you had 1 stream more, access to 4K content and HDR. This functionality is therefore gone.
Don’t you want that? Then you can upgrade to the HBO Max Premium subscription until 24 March 2025. With this subscription you get:
- 4 streams;
- 100 downloads (limits applicable);
- 4K & Dolby Atmos;
- Hdr.
Normally you pay 13.99 per month for this subscription. But owners of the lifelong discount can now receive this subscription for 6.99 euros.
You have to take a few things into account. If you now opt for the Premium subscription with the 50 percent discount and want to return to the standard (or even basic) subscription later, you will lose this discount.
This way you get the new discount at HBO Max
Everyone who now gets the lifelong discount at HBO Max has received an e-mail. To redeem the new lifelong discount of 50 percent, you must click on ‘now cash in’ at the bottom of this email. Are you not doing anything? Then your discount will be transferred to the HBO Standard subscription.
Cancel HBO Max
Do you not want to and cancel the subscription? Then you have to switch off the automatic extension in your subscription settings of your account before March 24.
