Netflix is of course known for its huge range of series, films and documentaries, but did you know that you can now also play games via the streaming service? Recently, Android users can download a selection of games to play in Netflix’s app.
At the time of writing, there are five games available, but this offering is expected to expand in the near future. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible for iOS users to directly access the games via Netflix. There is a way in which they can still play the games, about which more later.
Netflix plans to eventually implement the games in the iPhone and iPad versions of the app, but exactly when that will happen is not yet known.
This is how you can play games on Netflix
If you want access to the games on an Android smartphone, you need a subscription to the streaming service. Log in and open the Netflix app on your phone or tablet. You will then see a special row and a tab with the games. Tap on a game that interests you and choose Download game and then before To Google Play. You can then download and install the game from the Play Store, just like you would with other apps. Once installed, you can play the games in the Netflix app.
You may not see the games in the streaming service’s app yet. Netflix is gradually rolling out the feature, so the games may not be available in the app yet. Fortunately, you can also look up and download the games yourself in the Play Store: you do not need the reference in the Netflix app for this. This also works for iOS users: just look up the games in the App Store and you can play them without the intervention of the Netflix app.

The Netflix games available for download at the time of writing are Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up, and Card Blast. If you download an app from the Play Store or App Store, you will find it as a separate game on your phone. So you don’t have to open the Netflix app to play the game, but you still need an account.
Playing Netflix games doesn’t cost you anything extra and the feature is included with every subscription. Also, unlike many other games, you will not be bothered with annoying advertisements. Various games can also be played offline.
