No mutebutton more on the iPhone 15 Pro
A striking new feature of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is the action button. With the new iPhone you can decide for yourself which action is performed when you press the button. This means you no longer have to unlock the iPhone and go to a specific app. The new button replaces the mutebutton, the switch that we have found for years above the volume buttons of the iPhone.

Apple is therefore finally saying goodbye to this switch with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). Did you use the button often? Don’t worry, because you can give the action button the same function. On the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), a new mute icon will appear on the screen, so that you know that your phone is in silent mode. Don’t want to have that symbol constantly on screen? This is how you disable the icon
With the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) you can set which function is activated when you press the action button. It’s still possible to enable silent mode with the button, but that option has now been added to the control panel as well. When you enable silent mode, the new action button will display a mute icon next to the clock at the top of your screen.
This is precisely what is causing complaints, because many iPhone users find the symbol annoying. Fortunately, there is a quick way to disable the picture from appearing in silent mode on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;
- Tap ‘Hear and feel’;
- Turn off ‘Show in status bar’.
Turning this feature off will no longer show that your phone is in silent mode. Be careful, because your iPhone will no longer make sound when you receive a call, for example.
