Lamborghini expands the Huracán’s portfolio with a new addition: the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder. Quite a mouthful. Despite its very specific model name, the car needs some explanation.
Last year, the Huracán returned as Huracán Evo from the cutting table in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. Both the closed Huracán and the openwork Spyder will be delivered as Evo, but since the beginning of this year the closed Huracán has won over the Spyder in available versions. Since January this year, the Huracán Evo has an RWD version, a rear-wheel drive variant that is now also available for the Spyder!
Fair is fair: it is not the first time that Lamborghini presents a rear-wheel drive variant of the Huracán. Already in 2015 we were introduced to the Huracán Spyder LP580-2, an indication where the ‘2’ stood for the number of driven wheels and where ‘580’ indicated the power of the open Italian. Where the regular four-wheel drive Hurácans initially managed to squeeze 610 hp from their 5.2-liter V10, the driver’s right foot of the Huracán RWD had ‘only’ 580 hp at its disposal.
The four-wheel drive Huracán Evo got 30 hp compared to the ‘original Huracán’, which brought the power to 630 hp. The rear-wheel drive Huracán Evo RWD also benefited from the 30 extra horsepower at the beginning of this year, which means that the ten-cylinder now releases no less than 610 hp on the rear wheels. The 610 hp and 560 Nm strong version of the 5.2 V10 also serves as a powerhouse in this Spyder.
The Huracán Evo RWD Spyder is able to sprint to a speed of 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds. The top speed of the 1,510 kilo rear-wheel drive Italian is an impressive 324 km / h. The Huracán Evo RWD distinguishes itself visually with its modified front bumper and completely new rear bumper, including fresh diffuser, from its four-wheel drive Evo brother. A Dutch price tag is not yet known.
