This is the new iPhone 15 Pro (Max)
Apple fans all over the world were eagerly awaiting the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). And during the Apple event Wonderlust the time had come. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have been officially announced by Apple.
Titanium housing
When you look at the new iPhone 15 Pro (Max) you may immediately notice the new look. The sides of the device are now made of titanium. The side now also has a brushed look. Furthermore, the edges of the screen are also somewhat rounded.
The black edges that you see on the screen have also become somewhat thinner. The screen is still just as large: 6.1 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
A17 Pro chip
Under the engine head, the iPhone 15 Pro has the A17 Pro chip, which is produced using a new 3nm technology. This is the first time that Apple has used this technology for its chips. It is the successor to the A16 chip in the iPhone 14 Pro (Max). The new chip is of course a bit faster, which is always a bonus.
USB-C is coming to the iPhone
A big change is the disappearance of the lightning connection. This has now made way for USB-C. Secretly quite useful, because you no longer have to carry loose lightning cables to charge your iPhone. You can also use the cable from the iPad 2022 or your MacBook Air. The iPhone 15 Pro (Max) does have a faster USB than the iPhone 15. The port on the iPhone 15 Pro Max is just as fast as USB 3.
Colors iPhone 15 Pro (Max)
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also come in a number of new colors. A striking loss is the golden color. The colors that are available are black, white, titanium (kind of gray) and blue. Unfortunately, this year there are no really striking colors such as the purple color of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Cool updates for the camera
The camera also gets a nice update. Night mode is a lot better and captures more light and details in low-light photos. You can still shoot photos in 48 MP ProRAW, but you now also get the HEIF option. Also nice: thanks to the LiDAR scanner, you can also take portrait photos in Night mode.
The optical zoom (of the telephoto lens) is also a bit better and now has 5x optical zoom. Stabilization has improved and Apple has incorporated a kind of periscope lens into the iPhone 15 Pro (Max).
You can also record spatial videos with the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). These are a type of 3D videos that you will soon be able to view in the Apple Vision Pro. This option won’t be available until later this year.
Goodbye mute button, hello action button
One of the most noticeable changes is the disappearance of the mute button. You found it on the side of the iPhone, above the volume buttons. We already know this from the Apple Watch Ultra, because that was the first device with such a button. With the action button you can determine which action is performed when you press the button. There are a number of standard actions you can perform, but you also have the option to add your own command.
Big boost for gaming
Gaming will also get a big boost. Apple showed, among other things, ray tracing (for extra beautiful lighting effects) and games that were normally only available on consoles and powerful PCs. Games such as Resident Evil 4 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage can be played on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max).
iOS 17
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are immediately supplied with the latest version of the iOS operating system. iOS 17 is not the biggest update that Apple has released, but this time it once again contains a number of cool features.
For example, the Phone, FaceTime and Messages apps have received a major update. Furthermore, sharing with AirDrop is improved, you can share contacts with NameDrop and there is a new way to type faster and more accurately.
With Check In you can automatically let someone know when you have arrived at your final destination and Apple Maps can now also be used offline. The new Standby mode turns your iPhone into a clock radio and the Photos app now also recognizes your dog or cat!
