‘NW-WM1ZM2’ and ‘NW-WM1AM’ those are the few catchy names of Sony’s premium Walkman ‘Signature Series’ music players . The first, the most expensive model, is made of copper with gold and aluminum was used for the NW-WM1AM. Even for the soldering of the printed circuit boards, a lead-free and gold-injected material was used. According to the manufacturer, this should lead to a richer sound.

Both Walkmans run on Android 11 and they have a 5 inch HD LCD screen. They each come with two 3.5mm and 4.4mm audio jacks. Sony states in its press release. that all chips and the DAC are designed in-house to ensure optimal sound. The 4.4 mm jack is made with a quality cable from the premium brand Kimber Kable. On the right are buttons that let you adjust the volume, play and pause or browse your library of songs.

You can use both music players for 40 hours before they have to be recharged via the USB-C port. The NW-WM1ZM2 comes with 256 GB of storage and the NW-WM1AM has 128 GB for music and media. You can also expand the storage via microSD.

With the success of the smartphone, Apple has ditched the iPod, but there are still plenty of individual music players with Android aimed at the true audiophiles.
