Do you want to read a message on WhatsApp, but do you not (yet) have the time to respond? This is how you read messages without the other person knowing it!
Read messages on WhatsApp
Do you regularly use WhatsApp? Then it probably happened that you didn’t have time to respond to messages. In that case there are different ways to read the messages without seeing the sender of the message. WhatsApp added reading certificates to the application in 2014, so that blue check marks betray that you have opened a conversation and read the chat.
It is possible to disable these reading tickets so that the sender does not see that you have read the messages. You do that by turning off the switch behind ‘reading certificates’ in WhatsApp under ‘Settings> Privacy’. There is a disadvantage to that, because you no longer see when your sent messages have been viewed. Do you want to see that? Then there is a handy way to secretly read messages on WhatsApp.

This is how you read chats
There are several ways to read messages on WhatsApp unnoticed. Do you have a conversation with unread messages in your list? Do not open this conversation, but hold the conversation for a long time. In that case a preview appears, allowing you to read the most recent messages. Unfortunately you only see a limited number of messages. Do you want to read the entire chat without opening the conversation? That goes as follows:
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone;
- Scroll down so that the search bar appears at the top of the screen;
- Enter the name of a contact person in the search bar;
- Then scroll all the way down;
- View all (unread) messages from the contact person under ‘Messages’.
When you enter the name of a contact person in the search bar, all messages from and from that contact appear in the list under ‘Messages’. In this list you can see which messages you have received and sent in a certain interview. This way you can view all text messages, without opening the conversation in WhatsApp. This also applies to group discussions, in that case you enter the name of the group conversation at the search bar.

More about WhatsApp
Looking up contacts in the search bar is a handy way to read messages on WhatsApp unnoticed. The recipient will then not receive a reading certificate and the conversation remains unopened in the list of all chats. This way you will not forget to open the conversation at a later time to respond. Android users have an even easier way to read all messages, because they are shown in a widget that has been developed especially for Android.
Unfortunately, that widget is not yet available for the iOS version of WhatsApp. It is quite possible that WhatsApp will change later. It happens regularly that WhatsApp is expanded on the iPhone with functions that are already available at the Android version. This may also apply to the widget, making it even easier to read messages on WhatsApp unnoticed. Did you find this tip handy and do you want to know more about WhatsApp?
